Traditional Farmhouse Oak Smoked Cheddar

A young Cheddar with a smooth, buttery texture gently smoked for its distinguished oaky flavour.




At 3 to 6 months mature this cheddar is the youngster of our cheddar family. At this age it is ideal for smoking as it has not yet lost all of its moisture allowing it to soak up the dark oaky smoke aroma while retaining its own complex flavours. We send our cheddar to the local smokery, Brown and Forrest, just a few miles away in Curry Rivel where it is cold smoked. This process involves two nights gentle smoking over smouldering oak chips resulting in a beautiful golden colour and taste to match.

    Saving this for Christmas .We Know it is Delicious from Last year when we purchased it from Portsmouth Dockyard Christmas Festival. You were not there this year, much to our disappointment,as we cannot get REAL cheese locally.
